I began my banking career in 1969 with a large Chicago bank in commercial lending. In 1975 I joined a small $2 billion entrepreneurial banking group consisting of six banks. I became President of Marina Bank (one of the six) in 1982. The group was sold (1988) to NBD Bancorp headquartered in Detroit. Over the next eight years NBD Illinois bought eight additional bank charters in Illinois. My job as EVP and Chief Credit Officer was to integrate them into NBD's culture and organizational structure. In 1995 NBD merged with First Chicago Corp. I assumed the role of EVP for American National Bank, a $20 billion subsidiary of the parent company that dealt with mid-sized businesses. In 1995 Banc One purchased First Chicago/NBD and I became the National Sales Manager for all of the bank's small business clients in twelve states. Two years later I moved into middle market commercial banking in charge of sales for all electronic cash management products. I retired from Banc One in 2002 and joined another Chicago commercial bank, Cole Taylor Bank where I was in charge of all customer relationship areas including retail and commercial banking, trust and private banking. I retired a second time in 2008. In 2009  went back to work at a troubled community bank in Brookfield Illinois. The bank was failing and under the control of US Regulators. Over the next six years I managed a group of dedicated employees who improved asset quality and profitability. The bank flourished and was sold to new investors. I retired for a third time at the end of 2017.
